Yes, there's Construction downtown this summer! You may want to allow yourself a few extra minutes of travel time for your downtown visit. Here is some information that may help you streamline your travel plans when attending the Theater for classes and our spring and summer performances.

Kalamazoo Street is now open and this allows those traveling from the theater to avoid the Grand exit from 496 as they can turn at Davenport University and enter the parking lot on Lenawee.

PLEASE NOTE: Currently, the only open driving route to BoarsHead Theater is to go down Hillsdale. Hillsdale is one block South of Lenawee. When driving down Hillsdale (towards the East), cross over Grand Avenue. At the next street, Cherry, turn left and enter the Theater parking lot at the back of the building. We apologize for the inconvenience, but the downtown will have a great new look when the construction is completed in October. BoarsHead is proud to be a downtown business member - we're looking forward to the face-lift!  

As recommended by downtown Lansing's Principal Shopping District, to get to The Center for the Arts, and BoarsHead Theater:

If you take the Highway (496) - continue to take the Grand Avenue exit. During the months of May - September, off the ramp S. Grand Avenue will be down to one lane. You can still turn into the Theater lot from Lenawee. If traffic is heavy, you can also make your first right off S. Grand onto Hillsdale, then left onto Cherry and come into the rear of the Theater parking lot.

Recommended route by city streets from the East or West: Take Grand River or Saginaw (Oakland) to S. Capitol (which runs one way.) When you turn onto S. Capitol, continue towards downtown past the Capitol building on S. Capitol until you get to Hillsdale. Turn left onto Hillsdale, cross S. Grand Avenue then turn left on Cherry and come into the rear of the Theater parking lot. Please note: With this route, you can no longer get to the Theater lot by going down Lenawee. Lenawee, from S. Washington to Grand Ave. is now CATA bus access only and there is a possibility you will be ticketed if you attempt to travel down Lenawee between these streets.

If you take Michigan Avenue (which is under some construction) - please take Michigan Avenue to S. Capitol (which runs one way) and follow the "city streets" directions above.
